A History of Gallowhill Hall

Gallowhill Hall was built in 1888. It had some 51 rooms and was a substantial family estate. Frank Buddle Atkinson bought the home  and surrounding estates in 1902, at which time he moved his family into the home.

It was a private home until in 1943 Frank Buddle Atkinson rented the home to the Edinburgh based, Polish Paderewski Hospital for £600 per year.  The home was sold in 1953 upon the death of Frank Buddle Atkinson and in 1955, the home became a special residential home for 55 boys.

Today the property has been divided up into apartments.
