Lieutenant Geoffrey (Peter) John Buddle Atkinson

Geoffrey, whose nickname was Peter, was born in the December quarter of 1893. He attended Harrow and graduated in 1911.  Upon the outbreak of The Great War, he applied for a commission and was gazetted to the 5th Worcestershire Regiment.
He left for the Dardanelles in May 1915, having been attached to the 4th Battalion. He saw almost continuous fighting from the moment they landed. He was killed whilst leading his men into action in order to retake some lost trenches at about 4:00am on the 10th of June, 1915. He is buried at Twelve Copse Cemetary, Canakale, Turkey; in grave Plot ii.D.17
 
He is remembered every ANZAC Day & Remembrance Day.
