Gerald was born in June 1890 and he married Violet in 1919. They had one daughter, Ann.  Little else is known of them at present.

 

In 1911, Gerald is an Army Student, so we would presume he was studying at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst; following in his father's & grand father's footsteps.

 

A story told by his nephew, Mike Bremner goes as follows.  

When Gerald joined the army he was sent to see the adjutant of the regiment accompanied by the butler who introduced him by saying "Here is master Gerald".  Poor Gerald never lived it down!
