Robert was the first child of Eleanor & William, born at Southwick, Durham, in January 1873.  In January 1897 he married Martha Anne Stanners in South Shields Durham. Martha was born about 1878.

 

In 1901,  Robert was an Under Ground Coal Miner, at this point in time they only had one child, Elizabeth Ellen, born 1900.

 

By 1911, they had six children and Roberts father William, by now a widower was living with them. Robert is still a coal hewer in the underground mines. In 1911, at age 58, William was still a boilermaker and living with Robert at 71 Wayman St, Sunderland.

 

Martha passed away in December of 1941, while Robert passed away in  March of 1944 aged 70 years, both died in Sunderland.
