Winifred Isabel Browne & Hereward Irenius Brackenbury

Winfred was born on 31st August 1872 in Newcastle, England, the sixth born of Benjamin & Annie, she married Hereward on Valentine's Day, 1900 at Benwell, Northumberland; the first of two Browne-Brackenbury marriages. Hereward was born on 30th July 1871 in Woolwich, Kent.

 

They had two children, Charles & Barbara.  Hereward was first an Engineer then became the General Engineering manager at Armstrong Whitworth & Co, Elswick Works, Newcastle.  In 1919 he was awarded a CBE.

 

Hereward & Winifred must have retired to Berwick on the Scottish border, because he passed away there on 17th September 1938 and Winifred on the 24th January 1943.
